Studio Rules & Policies

We maintain studio rules for the benefit of all students, parents, and staff. Each rule and policy must be practiced in order to ensure the quality of dance instruction, safety, and business practices. We thank you for your observances of these rules. Together we can happily express ourselves through dance!

Financial Fees and Payments

  • We accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards, Venmo, PayPal, and Square payment methods (including American Express).

  • Registration and first months tuition must be paid in full before students can attend the first class.

  • Tuition is paid using recurring monthly online payments, unless prior arrangements have been made with Julie Peacock (owner/manager).

  • Tuition is due by the 1st of each month.

  • Payments made after the 5th of the month will be assessed a $15 late fee.

  • Returned check fee is $25 per occurrence.

  • We require 30-days advance notice in writing to cancel tuition recurring payments.

  • Online payments incur a 3% convenience fee for payment processing.

  • Costume Fees include a $50 deposit by November 5th and the balance due by December 5th.

  • Performance Fees include $50 due by February 5th and another $50 due by April 5th.

  • Private Lessons are $30 per 30 minutes and must be paid at or before the scheduled lesson. Contact the teacher directly to schedule.

  • Purchases of merchandise and dance supplies are non-refundable.

  • Personal Discounts must be approved by Julie Peacock. 🙂

Arrival/Departure

  • Each dancer is to arrive five (5) minutes before class begins, prepared to dance, in appropriate dance attire, with hair pulled back.

  • Late dancers may only enter the studio with permission from the teacher.

  • All dancers are to be picked up within five (5) minutes of the end of class.

Class Observations

  • Students who are ill or otherwise unable to dance may discuss observation possibilities with their teacher prior to the beginning class.

  • Parents/caregivers and siblings/friends may not wait in the studio while class is in session.

Attendance

  • Students who consistently arrive late to class will have limited participation in the recital.

  • Dance is a performance-based activity, meaning students need to be in class in order to receive instruction.

  • Parents are still responsible for paying for the class, even if their child is absent.

  • If class is canceled due to teacher absence/illness, a make-up class or credit will be offered.

Class Etiquette

  • Safety first.

  • Always address your teacher as “Miss _______.”

  • No talking while the teacher is talking; we want our dancers to learn well and be safe.

  • Come to class in dance attire, hair pulled back and ready to move.

  • Be appreciative of corrections and apply them. Politely thank the teacher after correction is given.

  • Be kind to your classmates. Rudeness is unacceptable.

  • Keep yourself to yourself…. This includes people and things. Please do not touch others unless we are doing specific partner work. No hanging/leaning on the barre and no touching the wall mirrors.

  • Leaving before class is over is not acceptable unless teacher permission is received prior to class.

  • After class, applaud the teacher and say, “Thank you.” This is called "rĂ©vĂ©rence".

Emergency

  • In the case of an emergency, the safety of students and staff is our priority. Our facility possesses the required equipment and kits to handle emergencies (first aid kit, fire extinguisher, and smoke detector).

  • Please notify your student’s teacher if a family emergency affects dance attendance.

  • Parents are to provide the necessary emergency contact information on their child’s enrollment record.

Medical Information

  • We care very much about each dancer here at Danceworx Academy. In order that each teacher may have adequate knowledge regarding each student’s needs, we ask parents and caregivers to supply their child’s dance teacher with appropriate and necessary information regarding their child’s medical needs.

  • All information is kept confidential with parental permission. This allows staff and parents to work together in harmony for your students' best dance experience.

  • We also encourage parents and caregivers to provide the necessary equipment needed for your child’s safety, such as a single EpiPen, to be kept in a secure location to be used only in an emergency.

Lost and Found

  • Students and parents are responsible for all of their belongings; please keep valuables locked in your vehicle.

  • Danceworx Academy is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged property.

  • Our lost-and-found is located in the office.

Termination of Enrollment

Danceworx Academy staff maintain the right to terminate student enrollment upon parent or student transgression of any of the studio rules and policies.

Additional Studio Rules

  • No photography or video-taping classes/performances without permission. You are more than welcome to take video/photos during our class open house.

  • No alcohol or cigarettes are allowed in or near the building.

  • Must be at least 14 years old and have danced for at least a year before being considered for an assistant teaching position.
